Demech's sophisticated modern plant at Baramati with state of the art machinery was commissioned in November 1 996, with plant capacity to produce Spiral Welded Pipes up to 12000 Tons per annum. Spiral Welded Pipes are manufactured from hot rolled mild steel coils using the latest state of the art technology by continuous process consisting of spiral forming in a special pipe forming cage and automatic submerged arc welding followed by plasma-cutting, hydro-testing, non - destructive testing and inspection etc.
The testing facilities comprise of a Hydrotester and Universal Testing Machine (UTM) which ensure that the pipes manufactured are free from any defects like leakage, mechanical failure etc. Non - destructive tests (NDT) like Radiography and Ultrasonic Tests to detect defects like porosity in welding, blow holes, air gaps, lack of fusion etc., can be conducted on an X-Ray machine and Ultrasonic Testing Machine respectively.
